Obviously, with such a wide range of accommodation in a city like Nice, it is hard to find the best pick for your type of travel style. What you like also depends on what you can afford, your travel needs and what you’re used to.

1. Villa Rivoli

Located on Rue de Rivoli, the Villa Rivoli is a less expensive yet worthwhile option compared to other hotels in this part of Nice. The Villa is just west of Old Town, and steps from the Villa Massena Museum.

The walk from the hotel to the shops and cafes of Old Town is only 20-25 minutes. The Promenade des Anglais is even closer, meaning you will be a short stroll from the waterfront. Many of Nice’s beaches are easily accessible, but keep in mind that they may be quite pebbly.

There are plenty of cafes, restaurants and a supermarket within 5-10 minutes of the hotel. Public transportation stops can be found nearby. The district is known locally as the “Musician’s quarter.”

Rooms at the Villa Rivoli start at about $139 a night, and there are 24 to choose from. The hotel occupies a private home dating back to the 1890’s. Each room features unique décor. Hotel Villa Rose is another option that offers a quieter stay. Removed from Nice’s Old Town, this hotel is located further north, along Auguste Raynaud Boulevard. The hotel is a short walk from Nice’s Matisse and Marc Chagall Museums- art lovers won’t have to travel far to view exceptional work.

The Villa Rose is a 40-minute walk from Old Town, but only a 20-minute bus or tram ride. There are restaurants and supermarkets within walking distance of the hotel.

The hotel is set in a renovated villa and offers single and double rooms outfitted with amenities. Rates begin at around $200 per night.

If you’re looking to enjoy a classic seaside getaway in Nice, consider the 4-star Hotel Suisse. The hotel is located on the eastern edge of Plage des Ponchettes and overlooks the water.

It is just steps from the Colline du Chateau Park. The park is a great way to enjoy a morning without venturing far from the hotel. Park activities include walking trails, cafes and a historic cemetery.

If you’re having a hard time finding the perfect hotel in Nice, consider staying in neighbouring Monaco. A taxi ride from Monaco to Nice takes under 30 minutes, while a train ride is even shorter. Trains between the two destinations run regularly, but be sure to check the schedules in advance.
