Meet Antonio Cisneros – Lima, Peru
Gloria from Global Story Book joins this serious statue, to make a funny statue picture together.
Meet Antonio Cisneros, the famous Peruvian poet, who was commemorated with this statue in the Parque Antonio Raimondi, in Lima, Peru. I was visiting Lima with my boyfriend in September 2015, and for the entire week that we stayed there – the weather was very gloomy and sunless.
We spotted this statue when we were strolling through the main seaside area in Miraflores, and I instantly thought: “Wow, this guy looks so serious, so deep in thought, why don’t I join him as a female counterpart to lighten up the mood.”

Climbing the Boar – Munich, Germany
Carly from Flights of the Educator submitted this image. Although the quality is not top notch, I found it one of the most hilarious statue pictures, so I have to include it.
I’ve always enjoyed silly poses with statues, and I just couldn’t resist climbing on top of this Boar in Munich. I didn’t think much of it at the time, because really, what great importance could this boar have? It wasn’t until almost years later that I went to Florence and saw a boar. Not just any boar. But the *exact* same boar. After a diligent trip down google-lane, I discovered that the first boar I saw was actually a copy! The original boar statue (Porcellino) was originally made in Rome and moved to Florence in the mid 16th Century!
Because the saying goes that rubbing his snout brings good luck, the poor pork’s nose has been rubbed so much that the current installation is a copy and most recently updated in 2008. There are apparently copies all over the world, and can even be seen in Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets! I know! It’s “boar”ly believable!

Salem Sue – World Largest Cow – Salem, ND, USA
Hannah and Adam from Getting Stamped submitted this hilarious cow picture.
The weirdest statue I have have ever seen was a 38 foot tall an 50 foot long giant Holstein cow statue. When we heard of their was the worlds largest cow statue just off the highway it was an instant detour on our road trip. She’s not just any cow, she has a name, Salem Sue the worlds largest cow statue. This beauty of statue can be found in Salem, North Dakota right off the highway. If you happen to visit in August you’ll be surrounded by a sunflower field that goes on for days.

Sir Charles Kingsford Smith – Sydney Wax Museum, Australia
When I saw this image, I knew this must be on the list with the most hilarious statue pictures. Image by Michelle from Romantic Explorers.
That one is a wax replica of Sir Charles Kingsford Smith – he was an Australian aviator that earned global fame in 1928 when he completed the first trans-Pacific flight from the United States to Australia. He completed a lot of “firsts” in aviation. Being a handsome guy, it was love at first sight when we met at the Sydney was museum – we “dated” for a whole of 10 minutes while my real boyfriend took the photo. The goggles and hoodie were laying around there in the set so I just made the best our moment together!

Laughing Goats – Ladenburg, Germany
This image is from Rohan at Travels of a Book Packer.
The sculpture was made by Eckhard Schembs, a local artist and stands in a small
pedestrian street of Ladenburg, Germany. We found it one day on an outing through
small German towns on a day trip. The goat looked so happy I couldn’t help jumping
in for a photo!
Barefoot Girl – Paris, France
Anisa from Two Traveling Texans submitted this lovely statue picture.
This picture was taken on a random side street in Paris when we were exploring after our visit to Notre Dame back in Oct 2015. The girl looks deep in thought and somewhat stressed. It is interesting that she is barefoot because normally, I connect being barefoot with being carefree. I just loved the depth of emotion portrayed by the statue. It’s a feeling that we have all experienced, so I think that is why I felt compelled to pose next to it.

High Four the Dane – Chattanooga, TN, USA
Sarah from Travelosio sent in this hilarious statue picture.
This beautiful Great Dane, done in bronze, sits near the Walker Street Walking Bridge in Chattanooga, TN. Louise Peterson Guffey called it High Four.
A description reads:
>”As a long time great dane owner, I see in these dogs a combination of playful goofiness and regal elegance. As a sculptor I see a magnificent combination of long bones, muscled limbs, folds of skin, and dynamic movement. Creating these sculptures brings me great joy and I hope to inspire smiles in anyone who has known the love of this special breed.

Reading Man – Florence, Italy
I cannot make a list of the most hilarious statue pictures without including one of my own. I have so many, but I picked this one from Florence, Italy.
This is the Reading Man of Folon at the Rose Garden in Florence. I was on a hike around the city walls and when we stumbled upon this lovely rose garden, I really needed to take a break. Luckily I found a bench to rest a bit but it was already taken. As the man was only reading, I decided to join him with my guidebook.
