Last week, Lisa from The Middle Age Wanderer informed me via Twitter about the Versatile Blogger Award Nomination.
(You can always notify me by using my Twitter handle @probearoundglob if you want to share anything with me.)
So guess what? They nominated me for the Versatile Blogger Award.
Hip hip hurray!
After the Liebster Award, a big achievement in my young blogging career!
It is always nice when someone actually reads your work and then appreciates it too!
I paid for everything in full myself. I was not paid or sponsored. All my opinions and experiences are my own.
Probe around the Globe does use affiliate links. If you decide to follow one of my links and make a purchase, I’ll earn a small commission. This is at no extra cost to you.
The Versatile Blogger Award is about diverse content, creative writing and is much more about travel writing than about just a popularity contest. So I am very happy to put my blog (and myself) a bit more in the spotlight with the acceptance of this award.
What is the Versatile Blogger Award?
In short, it is an award given from bloggers to other bloggers, celebrating diverse subjects and applauding creative writing. Most blogs are about keyword and SEO optimisation and about followers’ numbers, but the Versatile Blogger Award emphasises on online writers and photographers.
How to accept the Versatile Blogger Award?
As with anything, you need to follow some rules to really be able to brag about the award. And as I want to brag about this, I will follow the rules.
- Thank you nominator by tagging them on your social media and your blog
- Tell 7 random facts or stories about yourself
- Nominate 5-10 other bloggers for the Versatile Blogger Award
Easy, isnβt it? Now what shall I tell you guys for random things about myself?

As you know by now, I’m not good at just dashing out short lines of text. So here is a bit of a story, put together in 7 little “do you know…?”
Do you know Turkey is my favourite holiday destination?
I only posted 2 blog stories about my favorite holiday destination Turkey on the blog. I must have spent over a year in Turkey if I add up all the time I have spent there.
Although I love going to Turkey for vacation, I havenβt been in a couple of years because I really want to explore other destinations too. Choices are sometimes hard to make.
Do you know I love Mexican food but never been to Mexico?
Whenever I have people over or really want to cook up a storm, I make tortillas, enchiladas, quesadillas, fajitas or some salsa. I love to wrap food in their blanket and enjoy the rich taste of the food.
Can you imagine my delight in finding a place called Tacos Tacos in Barcelona? But I never traveledΒ to Mexico.
Nor like spicy food. What do you guys think? Should I go sometime?
Do you know I am a huge ice speed skating fan?
Watching people skate around in circles as fast as they can is my favorite winter pastime. It is an Olympic Sport but even in non-Olympic years, there is plenty of speed skating to watch. I used to go to all the competitions as a spectator, both national as international.
Because of this, Iβve been to some pretty amazing places. I have great memories of the Junior Worlds at -25 degrees Celsius in SeinΓ€joki, Finland or that time I encountered a snow storm in Zakopane, Poland.
Do you know where Iβd like to live for a couple of months?
I have no ambition to be a digital nomad or move abroad. I flourish in a steady environment and I need the stability to be healthy. However, I would like to live in Rome for a while.
Maybe a few weeks or a couple of months would finally be enough to explore the city in-depth and really get to see all the churches of Rome and all the antiquities hiding in the city. When it comes to Rome, I seriously suffer from fear of missing out. I want to see it all!
Do you know about my pets?
After my 2 bunnies died, I adopted 4 (!?) new ones from the shelter. The boys were already called Miami and Vegas. I adopted 2 girls and named them Arizona and Utah (because they are red). But.. Funny fact, I havenβt travelled to the USA, yet!
But they are the reason I use house sitters when I travel, as you could read in my housesitting guide. Do you want to join TrustedHousesitters too? I have a code which gives you 20% discount on their membership.
Do you know about my online store?
Besides my fulltime job, my house, my animals, my family and my boyfriend, I run this blog and my own online store. I create travel inspired designs which I put up for sale at my online store.
I love to use iconic images of places, like France or Sweden and put them into colorful patterns. If you feel like checking it out, please click the following link to Probe around the Globeβs online store.
Do you know what my next big travel project is?
Me neither! I have actually zero plans for 2017 and no idea where Iβll go next. There are so many choices and options; I just cannot make any plans yet.
I have been toying with the idea in my head to explore the possibilityΒ ofΒ walking the Camino to Santiago for a few weeks. But Iβm not sure how to arrange that with my health and my job.
Maybe Iran or Jordan could finally become a reality or Iβll explore more of the Mediterranean. Who knows! All the options are open!
Which destination would you like to read about?
New nominees for the Versatile Blogger Award
And of course Iβll also nominate other travel bloggers, who I enjoy reading and look forward to their new stories. I recommend you to check their blogs too if you have some spare time.
Laia from Dream Travel Girl. We all know Laia from her amazing guest story about her travel with Scoliosis, but she also makes amazing pictures, check out Laiaβs Instagram people! She lived all over Europe and traveled the world solo and with friends.
Jessica from Longest Bus Ride. If youβre looking for tips on photography in amazing places like Mongolia, this is the blogΒ to go. Yes, Jessica and I have a lot in common but she takes better pictures than I do.
Sebastian and Alex from Lost With Purpose are traveling across the globe. They traveled through Iran, Pakistan, and the other Stan countries and amuse me with funny stories, βI canβt believe they did thatβ tales, and some pretty amazing images to gawk at!
Hannah from Universal Jetsetters, I love her no nonsense (just gorgeous images) photo guides to cities and places of the world.
Sabir and Tara from Shataratravel, I first encountered their colorful images on Instagram, but the blog is just as fun and vibrant. They blog about budget travel too so already love them!
Marinel from Brown Gal Trekker, is a pretty badass trekker who hikes up every hill like it is peanuts. And she shoots amazing images while sheβs at it. Maybe I am just a little jealous of her stamina and awesomeness, so check her out!
Shanti from A Wander Phile, I first discovered her when she was about to embark on her hike on the European Peace Walk. She also walked the route to Santiago and continues to make me jealous with her amazing hikes around the globe.
So, that was it! I am happy with my award, feel free to leave a comment in the section below with how much you knew about me. (whoever got 7 out of 7 will win someting!) And let’s hope that more Blogging Awards (cathing) will soon follow!
Very informative article like usual Naomi, Thanks for sharing.
Is the exotic Africa in your Radar?? when we can read you about??
Keep up the great work!
happy travel
Thank you. I’ve been to Morocco but that was before my blogging days.
Congrats to that! ran into this post when looking for your Turkey posts π i loved Mexico, i feel the people are just as friendly as in Turkey – surprisingly, the feel of the country is similar π the food is spicy though, but delicious too!
Thank you Karin, i seriously consider Mexico indeed.
What a fun read! I’ve read many of your posts, so this was nice to get to know you a little bit. Love that you create art that is inspired by your travels and your bunnies are adorable!
*your travels π
Thank you Candy. It was fun writing a bit more personal stuff.
That was a fun read! I love your cute bunnies!!!!
Thanks Jess, they are the greatest. Looking forward to your post.
First of all congratulations for this achievement. Agree with you, its always nice to know that someone reads and appreciates your work it kinda boosts your spirit. This post read was great in the sense we got to know little more about you. And do you know we share the same dream destination, ‘Turkey’!
Turkey is absolutely fantastic Rashmi. It is so divers and has such great food, culture and people.
Congrats on your Versatile Blogger Award!!! I was also nominated, and wondered how I would put together an article!! I have learnt so much about you now. Thank you for sharing! I am totally with you about having stability and travelling around that. I will be taking some of your store inspirations. I am looking to launch one in the near future! Congratulations again!!
Thank you Rirhandzu, I feel I often already use too many words in my posts, so one whole post with extra info about me was very welcome. LOL
Your bunnnies are so cute! Let me guess the bunnies are in this order Mimi, Utah, Vegas and Arizona? What do you do with them when you travel?Turkey looks cool and congrats on the award. Keep up the good work.
Congratulations! Great to learn a little more about you. I love Mexican food too but I have been there four times but I did like it long before then. Turkey is on my bucket list but such a long way from home. I’m enjoying plenty of short breaks in SE Asia at the moment. Like you said … choices have to be made!
Congratulations on the award. Your 2016 looks really packed and love those places that you have been. It seems that you are pretty happy with what you are doing and you are quite successful in things you do. Again, great job and congratulations.
Congrats on your award! Love reading more about the bloggers I follow. Definitely, you need to go to Mexico. Beautiful beaches, great food, rich culture, Mayan ruins, underground rivers… it’s an amazing country.
This is really cool, and congrats! I’ve known about the Liebster Award, but I had never heard of the Versatile Blogger Award until just now π I love your bunnies! I always wanted one when I was a kid but never got one lol. I’ve never been to Turkey, but I’ve always wanted to explore the ruins of Ephesus!
Congrats on receiving the Versatile Blogger Award, Naomi!! You should absolutely go to Mexico if you like Mexican food! My favorite was when I traveled to a remote village in the mountains in a small town about 6 hours south of Juarez, and the locals we stayed at cooked us traditional Mexican dishes every day. It was so delicious – and better than the Mexican food you find abroad! May you can add Mexico and U.S. to your 2017 travel plans π
This is pretty cool! I love that you’ve only managed to write 2 blog posts on turkey in all the time that you’ve spent there, I’m the same way with South Korea. π As far as Mexican food goes, it’s the main thing keeping me from exploring Mexico further…It’s not that i’m a picky eater, no one would EVER say that about me, it’s just that their food tends to feature all the things i dislike the most. Cilantro, Sour Cream, raw tomatoes and onions, and avocado…I like just about everything else. Glad I took the time to read this post! I’ll be following you from here on out. Oh! Almost forgot to mention how much i like your little flag designs! SO cute!!!!
